With the Final-Cut Pro, state-of-the-art, high-end non-linear editing, you will learn basic setup, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video/audio, project management, trim sequences, slip and slide editing, video generators, creating titles, and final output, including laying back to videotape and exporting audio as a file for use in a sound-sweetening environment. Non-linear video editing systems have evolved and changed the face of television and video business. A video editor’s job is both prestigious and artistic. Several video editors have become rich and famous. It is really important to learn everything you can in this class if you want to become a success.

*Final Cut Pro (non-linear film editing) 10-Session Class*

This 10-session course covers the same content as our standard 8-session Final Cut Pro class but is provided over 10 sessions as a convenience to those who can benefit from having the class materials covered at a slightly slower pace – such as those for whom English is not their first language, those with limited experience working on computers, or those who have some reason to believe that they would require more time than usual to absorb the material being taught. This non-linear edit course teaches students the skills needed to begin editing professional quality video using Final Cut Pro. Beginning by familiarizing each student with the basic user interface the course moves on to cover such topics as setup, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, creating titles, and final output. If you are looking to edit professional quality video and require a slower hands-on approach, then this is the ideal class for you.

This class is designed to teach you how to create exceptional computer imagery, design a website faster and experience the highest quality work using vector editing and masking, improved layer controls, drawing tools, text warping, image distortion tools and much more.
Prerequisite: Orientation Four sessions of 3 hours each.
This class is designed to teach students revolutionary real-time motion graphics. You will discover the exciting use of behavioral and gestural animation techniques by hands-on experience. This class has a variety of elements for inventing motion graphics. When you have finished the class you will be able to understand the latest craze and excitement of motion graphics.
Prerequisite: Orientation Four sessions of three hours each

So, you want to pack up the camera, the lights, and all the accessories to go out and shoot some footage outside a studio. In this class you will cover the proper camera fundamentals and techniques to capture great footage. No Television or Video Production experience is necessary. In this class you will gain the knowledge to create a 60 seconds promo for your TV show. During the Production phase students get hands-on training on FPA’s professional –grade digital cameras, use tripods, lighting and sound recording techniques. On the completion of your class project of 60 seconds PSA in the field, you will be certified as a Field Producer with certification on the DVC Pro and Panasonic DVX 100B cameras including the Field Equipment.

Through hands-on training you will learn to conceptualize a field project by completing a storyboard, go on location with FPA’s professional-grade, digital cameras, and use field tripods and lights. Introduction to your Camcorder is also part of this course. You will be certified as an FPA Producer with certification on the DVC Pro & Panasonic DVX 100B cameras & Field Equipment.

Perhaps you would like to shoot a show in our studios–a talk show, sports, news or interview segment. This basic Studio Package class will train the participant in the basic studio control room operations, audio techniques, use of the character generator, video switcher, lighting, set designing and directing skills. By the end of this course you will have developed a familiarity with the basics of studio operations and will be able to start a show of your own.

This intense course of 19hrs will allow you to explore the process of creating your own short documentary. In this class you will learn how to conceive ideas, structure stories, conduct interviews, write narration and adapt your plans to the footage you get. This fast paced class is for students that know little or nothing about the process of creating short form documentary into creating their very own professional looking, compelling, and interesting short documentaries. Through a combination of lecture, film screening and hands on demonstration, this course will familiarize students with the basics of producing, shooting, lighting, sound gathering and editing for documentary production. We will also discuss techniques to improve your storytelling skills and creative decision making. You will use Final Cut Pro to digitize and organize your source material, create basic effects, titles and edit your raw materials into a polished final product. Be prepared to work as this class WILL be rigorous!! Various reading homework assignments will be given.

This course is designed to teach the basics in technical operations: operating the radio board, the use and mixing of multiple sources, and the aesthetics of proper on-air presentation. Radio cable/web casting is particularly exciting because it is, like show business. Programming is timed down to the second, and precision and speed are crucial for both taped and live broadcasts. This class will teach you to be creative as a producer and how to develop and hold the interest of your listening and viewing audiences. You will also learn how to develop a 30 sec Promo for your show. You will be required to prepare a few mini Radio shows and present them live, on-air as the class progresses.

Most professional audio recording today is done in the digital domain. In this workshop you will learn the basics of digital recording, editing, and processing, as well as mixing voice with sound effects and music, on Adobe Audition 3.0. You will gain the ability to develop & edit promos for use on WEBR or WRLD. Furthermore, -form radio drama, and gain an understanding of audio production necessary to create a small, home digital studio and put sound up on personal Web pages.
