Denene Deverman Crabbs’ career encompasses two decades of
production and writing experience. In 1985, she established Deverman
and Associates, an event/video production, public relations, and
marketing communications company which provided career training
and jobs for 100 full and part time staff serving corporate, nonprofit,
government, and entertainment clients worldwide, based in San Diego
and Los Angeles, California.
In 1992, Denene worked with actors Keith Carradine and Mel Gibson
at the Sheridan Arts Foundation to provide national arts education
programs and preserve the Sheridan Opera House, home of the Telluride
Film Festival. During her eight years in Hollywood, she assisted
in the development, production, and marketing of feature films,
documentaries, children and family entertainment at Warner Bros.,
Vin Di Bona Productions, and PBS.
In addition, Denene produced programs for ABC National News, CBS,
and ESPN’s Aviation Series. She also coordinated production
of independent feature films for Worldwide Pictures and Dean River
Productions, plus Remember Holly Powers, a HDTV Movie combining
live action with animation for NHK Broadcasting of Japan.
From 2000-2002, Denene was Senior Producer at Total Living Network
in Chicago, creating the promotional launch and branding for the
new cable/broadcast television network that provides public affairs,
faith and family programming to 106 U.S. affiliates, international
markets, and PAX-TV. In addition, she personally wrote, produced,
directed, shot, and edited numerous programs including segments
for the Aspiring Women series
and September 11 Anniversary Special.
As President of Vision Associates/Visionary Productions, Denene
is currently committed to writing and producing films, videos, and
television programming that address social, cross-cultural, and
educational issues. Recent projects have been completed for Summer
Productions, The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, and Points
of Light Foundation.
Ms. Crabbs holds a Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology
with honors from the University of Illinois and a Professional Certificate
in Film/TV Production and Screenwriting from UCLA. Denene also studied
screenwriting under master teachers including Robert McKee, Michael
Hauge, Linda Seger, David Freedman, and Jeffrey Kitchen. An accomplished
speaker, she developed career-training programs as an adjunct professor/teacher
at United States International University, San Diego State University,
and George Washington University. Denene lives in Fairfax Station,
Virginia, with her husband, Ray Crabbs.
