In support of our mission, Fairfax Public Access manages an all-volunteer, not-for-profit, Internet Service serving the Washington D.C. area: Nova.org. We operate from facilities here at FPA and provide low-cost direct Internet access for a wide variety of public organizations as well as individual computer enthusiasts who are local to our area.

We provide. . .

  • The FPA dial server consists of 46 all-digital V.90 modem. These modems support speeds of up to 56k, and ISDN connections. Our dial ratio is 5:1, meaning we have 5 subscribers for every modem. Most ISPs average a 12:1 ratio or higher. A low ratio means you get a higher call success rate, and no busy signals.
  • We have replaced our Sun SPARCstation web and mail servers with two new Dual Pentium FreeBSD UNIX servers, creating an awesome performance increase.
  • Up to 4 email accounts, in addition to your primary email/dial account.
  • Apache Web server hosting access with 100MB of storage space
  • UNIX shell account, if requested.
  • Domain Name hosting (free!)
All of our technical admins are volunteers and are actively working to stay ahead of the industry by implementing the leading edge of technology.

Great effort has been made not to not raise our current access fees. Costs today are $15/month ($180/year for Internet Access) plus your FPA membership fee ($52), for a total of $232/year. For an easy on line application click here.

The FPA fee provides for full access to all the services of the FPA facility, and you must pay this fee in order to use the Internet access service.
